Educated in India, Dr. Lotia earned his medical degree and completed an internship at Terna Medical College & Hospital. He then relocated to the United States, performing internships at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky. 

Furthering his training, he was a clinical stroke fellow at the National Institutes of Health Stroke Team at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and a resident in neurology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where he also served as a chief resident.

After completing a two-year movement disorders fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine under the guidance of Dr. Joseph Jankovic, where he also served as a chief fellow, Dr. Lotia joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an Assistant Professor. At UAMS, he served as the neurology residency program director and worked in multiple leadership roles.

Board-certified in neurology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

The founding member of the Functional Neurological Disorder Society, Dr. Lotia is also an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorders Society.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and diseases involving the central and peripheral nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurologists are specialists who treat diseases of the brain and spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles.
