Sitarist Anoushka Shankar has announced that her planned concert at Kuala Lumpur’s Plenary Hall will not go ahead. In an Instagram post, she attributed the cancellation to circumstances outside her control and said the decision had been made by promoter Shiraz Projects.

Shankar said she had received assurances that every ticket holder would be refunded in full. She directed customers to check their email for information and seek refund details from the promoter or the outlet where they bought their tickets.

She apologised for the disappointment and disruption, particularly for audience members who had arranged travel. The Grammy-nominated musician, whose father was sitarist Ravi Shankar, last performed in Malaysia more than a decade ago. She said she hoped to perform in Kuala Lumpur in the near future.
