Clavin Cher wins Best Song at SG:SW’s 10th anniversary finale
The Singapore Mandarin songwriting festival received 239 entries from 223 participants, with six awards presented at its finale.

Clavin Cher’s ‘All Is Well’ won the Best Song Award as SG:SW I Write The Songs marked its 10th anniversary with a finale concert in Singapore on 3 October 2026. The event took place at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s Far East Organisation Auditorium.
Cher composed the music and wrote the lyrics for the rock song, which addresses turmoil in the world and the hope offered by love. It was his third appearance at the festival, following a Lyrics (Merit) Award in 2023. The finale featured original works by the 10 leading finalists, performed for judges and an audience of close to 350.
Wong Yijuin and Kenta won the Melody (Merit) Award with their jointly composed ‘Falling For You’, for which Wong also wrote the lyrics. Lyricist Anne Chua and composer Ho Mei Xuan received two honours for ‘Spot’: the Lyrics (Merit) Award and Popularity Award (Public Voting). Their entry attracted 1,470 public votes.
The Best Vocal Performance Award went to ‘Demolished’, sung by Janelle Chen, with music by Edmund Ng and lyrics by Lee Jia Min. ‘Inked in Time’, composed by Gresilda Tan with lyrics by Ang Min Jia, took the Best Performing Band Award. Its performance included guzheng and flute.
Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, Ocean Butterflies Music and the Composers & Authors Society of Singapore jointly organised the festival. Under a new team format, ambassadors Yokez and Ben Hum each mentored 12 finalists for four months, covering composition, arrangement and stage presentation.
An August showcase at Bugis+ Atrium featured the top 24 finalists and attracted 23,240 attendees over two days, the festival’s highest turnout. The final 10 later joined its inaugural Songwriting Camp, with sessions led by Real and Tina Wang. The youngest finalist in that group was 16.
