Hanoi has been tasked with staging a special arts programme and a concert expected to draw around 60,000 people for the inaugural Vietnam Cultural Day. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra gave the assignment during a preparatory meeting, according to the government news portal.

The observance will be linked with National Great Unity Day in 2026. Tra said the year also marks the start of implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No. 80 on cultural development. She instructed Hanoi to ensure security and safety while making the event engaging for audiences.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is arranging several activities, with a national cultural conference expected in November. Its plans also include an exhibition covering Vietnamese culture’s development during international integration in 2021-2025, film activities, Vietnam Sounds 2026 and the Vietnam Cultural Experience Journey 2026 communications campaign.

According to the ministry, testing is under way for the Vietnam Cultural Digital Map platform, with a nationwide launch expected on November 1.

Tra called on agencies to prepare activities that encourage public participation and establish the significance of the annual observance from its first year. She also urged cultural venues, including museums, libraries, theatres, cinemas and historical sites, to widen access through longer opening hours and free or reduced-price admission where appropriate, especially on November 24.
