Malaysian films earn record RM247.95 million at box office in 2025
Cinema attendance rose 107.7 per cent to 14.83 million, while the FFM35 Best Film winner will retain a RM1 million Creative Content Fund prize.

Malaysian films generated record box office receipts of RM247.95 million in 2025, compared with RM166.57 million in 2024, Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching said. Cinema attendance reached 14.83 million viewers, a 107.7 per cent increase from 7.14 million a year earlier.
Teo presented the figures on October 10 at Finas headquarters during the launch of the 35th Malaysia Film Festival (FFM35), where the Top 5 contenders were also announced.
Among the leading titles she highlighted were Blood Brothers: Bara Naga, which collected RM73.64 million, Papa Zola The Movie with RM63.88 million and Ejen Ali The Movie 2 with RM58.40 million.
Domestic films attracted 6.10 million viewers through July 2026, with six titles taking more than RM10 million each at the box office.
Teo also announced that the FFM35 Best Film winner would continue to receive a RM1 million Creative Content Fund prize. She said she hoped the support would help the recipient develop another project and reach more viewers with Malaysian stories.
She called on states and federal territories to follow the Federal Government's Budget 2027 initiative on entertainment duty exemptions for local film screenings and theatre performances.
The festival's theme is Spectrum Of Cinema. Its awards ceremony is scheduled for November 21 at Istana Budaya.
