Animated film Ella Arcangel to open QCinema 2026
Bianca Umali voices the lead character in the horror-fantasy comic adaptation. The festival runs from November 13 to 22.

QCinema International Film Festival 2026 will begin with the animated film “Ella Arcangel”, with Bianca Umali voicing its central character. The festival, organised by the Quezon City government, is scheduled for November 13 to 22.
The film draws on Julius Villanueva’s Filipino horror-fantasy comic series “Ella Arcangel: Awit ng Pangil at Kuko”. Its young witch protagonist protects her community by battling human opponents as well as mythical monsters in an urban setting.
GMA Pictures posted photographs on social media from a festival media conference. Umali attended alongside the film’s director, Mervin Malonzo, writer Julius Villanueva and producers Manny Angeles and Avid Liongoren.
Also at the conference were GMA Pictures Executive Vice President Nessa Valdellon, Anj Atienza and Christian Julao. The annual QCinema festival presents films from the Philippines and abroad, with the animated adaptation selected to open its 2026 programme.
