Indonesia lifts cultural fund ceiling to Rp6 trillion, including music support
An estimated Rp360 billion to Rp500 billion is set for distribution in 2026, with cultural funding awarded through competitive selection.

Indonesia’s Dana Indonesia Raya endowment now has a ceiling of Rp6 trillion, up from Rp5 trillion, Culture Minister Fadli Zon said. Speaking at a press conference for the 2026 Indonesian Music Awards (AMI Awards), he said the ministry was seeking to extend support throughout the cultural sector, including music.
The estimated amount to be distributed in 2026 ranges from Rp360 billion to Rp500 billion. Zon said applications exceeded 15,000 in 2025, while the number of beneficiaries chosen in 2026 was 4,158. Awards across cultural fields remain subject to strict, competitive selection.
Zon described the AMI Foundation’s work on private-sector partnerships, including with Music Awards Japan (MAJ), as a strategic step. He said industry networks and opportunities for promotion were important for musicians trying to enter overseas markets, alongside musical quality and the use of digital platforms.
Social media offers musicians greater scope to introduce their music abroad without relying solely on records, cassettes or CDs, he said. However, he added that digital access needed production and promotional support, and that song and vocal quality remained important to attracting international listeners.
