The Longest Wait, a documentary about Indonesia’s national football team, will begin a limited cinema run on 28 October 2026, coinciding with Youth Pledge Day. A wider release is scheduled for 29 October 2026.

Ten selected cinemas will host the opening screenings, with locations including Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Makassar. Distribution will then expand to dozens of cities across Indonesia, reaching Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua.

The documentary looks beyond matches and tactics to explore the players’ personal lives. Its stories cover family relationships, sacrifices and the lengthy process of building a professional football career, rather than focusing solely on performances on the pitch.

Diaspora players’ efforts to develop an emotional connection with Indonesia are another focus. The film also examines the role of family support in their journeys, alongside personal experiences and moments away from the pitch that receive little media attention.
