Bali-shot war drama The Ghost and the Gun reaches Indonesian cinemas
The film recreates Malaya in 1948 and features Indonesian actress Asmara Abigail alongside Malaysian actors Hazman Al Idrus and Fabian Loo.

The Ghost and the Gun began its Indonesian cinema run through CGV on 23 October 2026, following a Malaysian release on 27 August 2026. Also called Peluru Senja, the historical war drama was shot entirely in Bali with Indonesian cast and technical crew.
At its Jakarta premiere and press conference on 23 October, Viking Sunset Studios CEO and executive producer Bo Holmgreen said Bali offered the natural surroundings needed for the story. He said forests account for 70 per cent of the film, while the production created 14 sets close to the studio, including village locations and a rebel camp.
Assistant director Richo Dharma said the shoot lasted 26 days and relied heavily on forest locations. Filming during the rainy season meant some scenes had to be changed because the original story did not include rain.
Indonesian professionals handled camera work, lighting and sound, while post-production was carried out in Malaysia and Britain. Holmgreen also outlined plans for further investment in the Bali studio's facilities.
Directed by Anshul Tiwari, the film stars Asmara Abigail, Hazman Al Idrus and Fabian Loo. Its story follows a Malayan soldier and a British soldier, both Second World War veterans, who are forced to cooperate to protect a village from an armed group.
The setting is Malaya in 1948, under British rule. Alongside the fighting, the story examines war trauma, personal relationships and conflict during political change.
