Jakarta Film Week brings 159 films as minister highlights industry links
The festival’s sixth edition runs from October 21 to 25, 2026, with participants including Japan, France and Peru.

Indonesia’s Culture Minister Fadli Zon said Jakarta Film Week 2026 is helping local filmmakers expand their professional connections, while festival director Rina Damayanti said the programme includes 159 films representing 59 countries.
In a press statement, Zon said the attendance of filmmakers offered opportunities to build contacts. He highlighted Hong Kong actor Sammo Hung’s presence as an example that could encourage connections within the industry.
Zon said the Culture Ministry supports the festival as part of efforts to develop Indonesia’s film ecosystem. He expressed hope that it would continue to grow, allowing filmmakers to exchange experience and learn from one another while helping Indonesian cinema gain international recognition.
The festival runs from October 21 to 25, 2026. Damayanti named the United States, France, Italy, Hong Kong, Japan and Peru among this year’s participants.
Presented by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office and the Jakarta Film Commission, the sixth edition carries the theme “Encounter”. Damayanti said it reflects support for Jakarta’s vision of becoming a Cinema City.
