Overseas concerts have prompted 45% of Singapore concertgoers surveyed to travel abroad, according to research published on 4 November by Trip.com Group and Live Nation Asia. South Korea topped their list of potential destinations, with 43% willing to make the journey for an artist they wanted to see.

The Concert Travel Effect in Asia surveyed 1,768 people in Singapore, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand and South Korea. Across those markets, 65% said they had visited another country or region for a show.

Booking figures included in the research showed flight demand rising around ticket presales. Flights to Singapore saw bookings increase by 203% within a day of Trip.com presales for The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn Tour.

For the BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG', flight bookings from Singapore to Bangkok rose by 200% within three days of Trip.com presales. The study also found that K-pop shows in Bangkok drew nearly twice the proportion of overseas attendees as performances by other acts.

Among Singapore respondents, 64% named obtaining tickets as the leading consideration when planning concert travel. Accommodation close to the venue followed at 50%, while affordable flights or transport ranked next at 48%.

Singapore participants' preferred trip length averaged 4.8 days, compared with four days across all six markets. Some 75% of Singapore respondents expressed interest in packages pairing concert admission with travel products.
