Sheila Majid records song for Malaysian-Taiwanese film Sayang Sayang
The film opens in Malaysian cinemas on November 5 after receiving five nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards.

Malaysian singer Datuk Seri Sheila Majid has recorded Sayang for the soundtrack of Sayang Sayang, a Malaysian-Taiwanese production directed by Tang Hsiang-Chu. It is her first film soundtrack recording in four years, following Wira Hatiku for the 2022 film Juang.
Japanese-Malaysian singer-songwriter Ryota Katayama composed the song. Speaking at the film’s gala at TGV Suria KLCC, Sheila said its lyrics moved her and helped persuade her to take part.
Sheila said she knew producer Jin Ong and was familiar with his work, which includes Abang Adik. Before accepting his invitation, she wanted to learn about the film’s story. Its treatment of love and humanity across social backgrounds appealed to her, and she hoped audiences would leave with greater affection for others.
Sayang Sayang centres on Nancy, played by Jo Kukathas, who returns to her East Coast hometown with her deaf son Ajay, portrayed by Nandagopal Mohan, and starts a sign language school.
The story also follows Mina, a deaf Malay girl from a Muslim family who is interested in Muay Thai, and San San, a deaf Chinese girl whose dreams concern the sea. They are played by Mhia Firdaus and Sasha Tang respectively.
The film has received five nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards and is scheduled for release in Malaysian cinemas on November 5. The music video for Sayang has exceeded 10,000 YouTube views.
