Ho Chi Minh City is hosting Italian Film Week from November 2–7, with six films on the programme at Galaxy Cinema Nguyen Du. Italy’s consulate general in the city organised the event, which began with a screening of La Grazia (The Pardon).

The selection was made by the Asian Film Festival’s organising committee. Themes include personal experiences, relationships and social conditions. Viewers will hear the original Italian dialogue, accompanied by subtitles in both Vietnamese and English.

At the opening, Italian Consul General Alessandra Tognonato expressed hope that the films would help Vietnamese audiences explore different aspects of contemporary Italy. Salvatore Banco, acting vice-chairman of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, said ongoing cooperation could broaden the audience for Italian cinema in Vietnam.

Screenings begin at 7:00 pm. The venue is at 116 Nguyen Du Street in Ben Thanh Ward. Entry costs nothing, though registration beforehand is required. The consulate’s official Facebook page published registration information on October 26. Support for the programme comes from ViewSonic Vietnam and Galaxy Cinema Nguyen Du.
