Malaysia will host the French Film Festival 2026 across four cities between November 19 and December 6. The programme comprises 10 films, with screenings scheduled in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Johor Bahru and Penang.

Alliances Française centres in Malaysia are organising the festival, supported by the French Embassy in Malaysia. GSC International Screens is the official cinema partner. The selection spans historical drama, animation, romance and comedy, alongside older films.

Titles include Les Misérables (2026), The Phantom of the Opera (2026), Marsupilami (2026) and Arco (2025). The programme also features The Chorus (2004) and Don't Look Now: We're Being Shot At! (1966).

According to Alliances Française, The Phantom of the Opera director Alexandre Castagnetti will attend the November 18 opening and meet Malaysian filmmakers and film studies students. The organisation is also seeking possible French-Malaysian partnerships in production, talent development and animation.

The screenings are scheduled as follows:

  • Kuala Lumpur: November 19–29, at GSC Mid Valley Megamall and GSC 1 Utama in the Klang Valley.
  • Kuching: November 19–22, at GSC CityONE Megamall.
  • Johor Bahru: November 26–29, at GSC The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey.
  • Penang: November 26–December 6, at GSC Gurney Plaza.

A mid-November exhibition at Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur will focus on André Malraux, the former French Minister of Cultural Affairs. Screening schedules and ticket-sale details will be announced through Golden Screen Cinemas and the festival’s official channels.
