Malaysian pop-rock band Insomniacks release their first album, Kami Insomniacks, on October 30, following nearly 11 years of making music together. The group will follow the release with a showcase at Odeon KL on October 31.

The band said the record reflects their experiences together and what they have learnt during that time. Its themes range from relationships with friends and family to love, adventure and personal development. They said their experiences had shaped their songwriting and encouraged them to explore different musical approaches without abandoning their established sound.

Ahead of the release, the group previewed songs during acoustic shows on a three-city tour. Around 300 people attended the opening performance at Loft29 in George Town, Penang, on September 19. The 13-song programme included six album tracks, two of which had not been released. A second show at Embrace Hall Music & Art Centre in Skudai, Johor Bahru, on October 3 drew a capacity crowd of over 300.

For the Kuala Lumpur finale, vocalist Iqie, guitarist Danial and bassist Iskandar plan a 14-song programme combining the album’s 12 tracks with selected older songs. An audience of 1,500 is expected. The band said finishing the tour in Kuala Lumpur held particular significance because it was where they began.
