Vietnam seeks film partnerships at Tokyo content market
A Vietnamese pavilion is showcasing filming locations, an animation project and the fifth Da Nang Asian Film Festival at TIFFCOM 2026.

The Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) has opened a pavilion at Tokyo’s TIFFCOM content market to help Vietnamese filmmakers find overseas partners for production and distribution, and attract filming to Vietnam.
The pavilion marks Vietnam’s second consecutive year of participation at the Tokyo International Film Festival. TIFFCOM, held alongside the festival’s 39th edition, runs from October 28 to 30 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Centre.
VFDA chairwoman Ngo Phuong Lan said the association wanted to maintain an annual presence at both events. She said the pavilion would give filmmakers and producers a place to present projects and discuss potential partnerships, alongside promoting Vietnam.
This year’s presentation centres on the fifth Da Nang Asian Film Festival, the Production Attraction Index and images of potential filming sites in Quang Ninh, Da Nang and Hai Phong. The locations showcased range from Ha Long Bay and limestone mountains to port areas, urban settings and coastal landscapes.
Among the featured projects is the animated film The Secret Classroom: Comet Race, presented by producer Luong Minh Hang and directed by Nguyen Phi Phi Anh. Dee Dee Studio is co-producing the project, while CGV is its strategic distribution partner.
VFDA also plans a seminar involving filmmakers, producers and experts from Vietnam, Japan and elsewhere. Discussions will cover cultural identity, project development, co-production and access to overseas markets. TIFFCOM 2026 has 322 exhibitors and nearly 4,600 participants representing 46 countries and territories.
