An 11-song compilation spanning recordings from different labels is Filipino rapper Gloc-9’s first release on vinyl. Titled Mga Ani ni Gloc-9, the limited-edition record marks his approaching three decades in the music industry.

Sony Music Philippines, Star Music and Universal Records issued the collection. Its collaborations include “Sirena” with Ebe Dancel and “Magda” with Rico Blanco, alongside “Upuan”, featuring Jeazell Grutas. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid appears on “Takipsilim”, while Gary Valenciano features on “Walang Pumapalakpak”.

At the launch, Gloc-9 explained that impact, rather than hit status alone, determined which songs made the selection. He described the title’s harvest theme as a reflection of repeated effort throughout his career. Hearing crowds sing his music back to him was one reward for those years of work, he said.

He singled out the award-winning “Upuan” as a song whose meaning had shifted for him. He wrote it 17 years ago, aged 33, and said he sometimes heard it used in ways that no longer matched his intentions. Speaking to Rappler, he expressed hope that young people would find awareness and courage through the song and make it their own voice.
